ST. ELIZABETH THE WONDERWORKER PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
August 2, 2008
In attendance: Marin Smillov, Dan Dickhaus, Bob Thieke, Andrea Milinkovic, Carol Tsekouras, James Hargrave
Because Father Constantine was not present, we skipped the opening prayer and pastoral comments.
1. Old & New Business
Construction
- Marin: building fund is about $20,000 short for construction
- Carol: after the $100,000 is paid, we owe another $44,000, $39,000 of which is in the bank. Then there is an additional $20,000.
- surveyor’s costs: should we press him for the extra $7,000 contractors’ costs for the bad survey? We agreed to ask Ray Issa to communicate with the surveyor asking him to absorb some of these damages.
- Marin: we can make an interest-free loan of $10,000 to the building fund, and try to fundraise the rest in small amounts.
- re. landscaping, Dan suggests that we plant smaller trees now and by the time the landscape plan is due, they will be large enough to fit the plan.
- we need to specify where the sign will go on the church driveway.

Parish cleanup
Gabriella is willing to help clean on a regular basis, alternating with the Fessahaye family. We agreed that this is a good idea, and will cancel the cleaning service.
Visiting Speakers
Scott Cairns, an Orthodox Christian poet, will be visiting UF in the spring, April 6th and 7th. If we can bring him here on Sunday, we will. Marin will communicate with Todd Best and the Christian Study Center.
Fall General Assembly
shoot for October 26th
announcement should go on October 1st, with the agenda, so our September meeting will finalize everything.
Elections
elect an elections committee in the October assembly, they’ll come up with nominations in November and we can have the elections in December.

Philoptochos bake sale downtown at the fall festival
re. Russian priest (Father Arkady Migunov) visiting St. Elizabeth’s—have him contact Fr. Constantine, possibly first visit on a Sunday. Marin will also speak with Fr. Constantine.
